1. Introduction

Pahirawa (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a handcrafted saree brand rooted in India. We sell and ship within India. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

We keep the language clear and calm, and we only collect what we need to serve you.

2) Scope

This policy applies to our website, checkout, customer support (WhatsApp), and marketing communications in India. It does not cover third-party sites we link to or platforms we don’t control.

3) What we collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to serve you:

A. Identity & contact — name, email, phone, addresses.
B. Order & delivery — items ordered, price, discounts, delivery status, return requests.
C. Payment — UPI/card/net-banking details are processed by our payment gateway; we do not store full card or UPI credentials on our servers. We receive only confirmations (success/failure), partial references, and refunds data.
D. Communications — messages sent to our support channels, call notes (if any), and your preferences.
E. Device & usage — cookies, IP address, browser, time-on-page, referring pages, crash logs; used for security and basic analytics.
F. Account & authentication — if you sign in or log in using email/password, we store your account details. If you use phone OTP (when enabled), we may use a third-party identity service (e.g., Firebase Authentication) to send OTP; we receive verification status, not your OTP.

4) Cookies & similar tech

We use strictly necessary cookies (e.g., WooCommerce cart/session), preference cookies, and limited analytics. Typical examples include woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, and session cookies that help the site remember your cart. You can control cookies from your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may break checkout.

5) Why we use your data

We use your data for:

  • Orders: to create your account, process payments, ship within India, handle returns, and send invoices/updates.

  • Support: to answer questions, fix issues, and manage warranties/returns.

  • Improvement & security: to keep the site reliable, prevent fraud, and improve pages that are not working well.

  • Legal & tax: to comply with invoices, bookkeeping, and lawful requests.

Lawful basis (India): We rely on your consent (e.g., for marketing), and on what’s reasonably expected to provide the service you requested (e.g., order fulfilment, support), as well as compliance with law. (DPDP Act framework.)

6) Children

Our products and site are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you are a parent/guardian and believe a child has given us data, write to info@pahirawa.com and we will act promptly. Under the DPDP Act, a “child” is an individual under 18; processing children’s data requires verifiable parental consent and must avoid harmful profiling or targeted advertising to children.

7) How we share data

We share only what’s needed, with:

  • Payment partners (to process payments and refunds).

  • Couriers (to deliver within India and manage returns).

  • Hosting, email/SMS, and analytics providers (to run the site, send order emails/OTP, detect outages).

  • Identity providers (if OTP login is enabled, e.g., Firebase Authentication).

  • Professional advisors & authorities (for audits, taxation, fraud prevention, or if required by law).

We require our service providers to protect your data and use it only to deliver their services to us.

Cross-border use: Some providers may process data outside India. We use contractual and technical safeguards and limit data shared. If the Government of India restricts specific destinations in future, we will follow those directions and update this policy. (DPDP enables Govt. notifications for restrictions.)

8) Your choices & rights (India)

Subject to law, you may:

 

Access a summary of personal data we process about you.

Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

Erase data that’s no longer needed or where consent is withdrawn (unless we must retain it by law).

Withdraw consent (for example, marketing).

Grievance redressal: you can write to our Grievance Officer (below).

Nominate a person to exercise your rights in case of incapacity (as enabled under DPDP).

Timelines: We aim to respond within 15 working days, and in any case within one month where applicable. (The SPDI Rules require a published Grievance Officer and 1-month redress timeline.)

 

If you’re not satisfied after contacting us, you may escalate as per the DPDP Act to the Data Protection Board of India once applicable processes are in effect.

9) Data retention

We keep data for as long as needed for the purpose collected:

  • Orders & invoices: kept to meet tax/book-keeping requirements and to support returns/warranty (typically up to 8 years under general accounting norms).

  • Account data: kept while your account is active; deleted or anonymised after reasonable inactivity, unless we must retain by law.

  • Support emails/chats: kept to track issues and avoid repeat requests; removed after no longer needed.

  • Backups/logs: cycle out on a fixed schedule unless needed for security or legal holds.

10) Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards: encryption in transit, hardened hosting, access controls, and staff limits on who can see what. We review vendors and log unusual access. As a baseline, we follow practices aligned with Rule 8 of the SPDI Rules (e.g., ISO/IEC 27001 references). No method is perfect, but we act quickly on incidents and inform you where required.

11) Marketing & communications

We send order updates by email/SMS/WhatsApp as needed. We send promotions only with consent; you can opt out any time by using the unsubscribe link or by writing to info@pahirawa.com

12) Shipping within India & service messages

We currently sell and ship only within India. Order, delivery, and return notifications are essential service communications and will continue even if you opt out of promotions.

13) Third-party links

Our site may link to other websites or social pages. Their privacy practices are their own; please read those policies.
